A portable examination device for travel documents, with a high-definition screen built into it so the officer sees exactly what the optics see. Its multi-light modes bring out the security features a document carries under different illumination, and magnification, still capture and video recording turn what the officer finds into a record that can be shown to somebody else. That is what makes an authenticity decision possible away from a fixed desk.

Multi-light modes
White, infrared, UV and external UV illumination each reveal a different layer of the document, for a comprehensive and detailed examination.
High-definition display
The screen is part of the device, so the officer authenticates what is in front of them without a separate workstation.
Magnification
Intaglio, microprint and line structure are enlarged on screen, so the detail that decides authenticity is actually visible.
Capture and record
Stills and video of what the optics see are recorded on the device, so a finding can be kept with the case rather than described from memory.
Portable by design
The check travels to the document rather than the other way round — at a gate, in a vehicle lane, or on board.
Four ways of looking at the same page
White light shows the page as printed; infrared reveals what survives when visible ink disappears; UV lights up the fluorescent features; external UV reaches the substrate and the watermark. Switching between them is a button on the side of the device.
Held over the document, not the other way round
The officer holds the device over the page and reads the result on its own screen — at a counter, at a gate or in a vehicle lane, with nothing to set up first.
The detail that decides it
Intaglio relief, microprinted text and the line structure of a security print are enlarged far past what the eye resolves, so a convincing forgery separates from a genuine document.
Through the substrate, to the watermark
An external UV source works the light through the paper itself, bringing out the watermark and the features embedded in the substrate rather than printed on it.
What the officer saw, kept as evidence
Stills and video are recorded on the device as the examination happens, so a suspect document arrives at the next desk with the evidence already attached to it.
Screen on one face, optics on the other
A single handheld body: the display and the light-mode keys face the officer, the lens and its illumination ring face the document. Nothing else has to be carried to the check.
