Smart eGate
The fare gate that recognises the passenger in both directions.
The Smart eGate is the passenger-facing end of automatic fare collection: a bi-directional swinging-door gate with facial recognition on both faces, through-beam sensors that decide logically whether a person has entered or left, and remote intercom and operation for the times something needs a human. It accepts a face, an ID card or a QR code, and photographs the passenger when a code is used to open it.

How the gate works
Bi-directional facial recognition
Recognition works in both directions, matched to a bi-directional swinging-door design, so one gate serves entry and exit.
Logical passenger control
Through-beam sensors track the passage itself, giving logical control of passenger entry and exit rather than a simple open-and-close.
ID card recognition
An ID card is accepted at the gate, so a passenger without a transit credential is not sent back to a counter.
Remote intercom and operation
Local gate control enables remote intercom and remote operation, so a station supervisor resolves a stuck passage without walking to the gate.
Photo on QR passage
A photo is captured automatically when a passenger scans a QR code to open the gate, tying the passage to a face after the fact.

A gate line that keeps the platform moving
The gate array is what stands between the concourse and the train, and the speed of the check there decides whether a peak-hour crowd reaches the platform before the doors close.
