Ticketing Terminals
Three terminals for the door of the bus — from a face to a banknote.
Fare collection on a city network has to accept whatever the passenger is carrying: a transit card, a bank card, a code on a phone, a face, and in many places still cash. Three terminals cover that range — SmilePay for face payment, IDM5210 as the everyday validator, and IDM5212 where notes and coins must be taken as well — all reporting to the same back end and all positioned on the route.
The three terminals
SmilePay
An Android-based contactless payment terminal that supports face payment. Multiple payment options — face, transit card, bank card, NFC and QR code. A binocular camera gives liveness detection; a 7-inch display carries the interface. Easily mountable on board or in a station, with dual-mode GPS/BeiDou positioning.
IDM5210
The versatile payment terminal, powered by a Linux operating system. Transit card, bank card, NFC and QR code payments on a 5-inch display; 4G communication, GPS positioning and wireless functions such as WiFi and Bluetooth; dual-mode GPS/BeiDou positioning.
IDM5212
All-in-one payment terminal for seamless travel. Cash alongside transit card, bank card, NFC and QR code; coins and banknotes recognised for denomination and authenticity; fares counted automatically and reported in real time; each module monitored from the back end; a double-locking mechanism with both an electronic and a mechanical lock.
What the terminals do
Multiple payment options
Public transit card, bank card, NFC and QR code payments are supported across the range, with face payment on SmilePay and cash on IDM5212.
Contactless payment
A safe and secure way to pay without touching any buttons or screens — the queue keeps moving and nothing is handled in common.
Liveness detection
SmilePay's binocular camera supports liveness detection, so a face presented to the terminal is a person rather than a photograph.
Cash recognised and counted
IDM5212 recognises coins and banknotes for denomination and authenticity, calculates the fares collected and transmits the data to the back end in real time.
Advanced positioning
Dual-mode GPS/BeiDou positioning ties every transaction to where on the route it happened; 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth keep the terminal connected.
Intelligent device management
The back end monitors the online and working status of each module — how often the cash box has been opened, payment methods used, device exceptions, overflow warnings.
The fare, the card reader and the scanner on one face
The passenger sees the fare on the screen, touches a card to the pad above it or holds a code to the scanner below — one terminal, whichever credential the person happens to carry.
Paid for in the time it takes to walk past
Mounted at the door, beside the driver or on a stanchion, the terminal takes the fare in the few seconds a boarding queue allows.
The same terminal in the depot and at the stop
The units are easily mountable for on-board payment or installation in stations, so one family of terminals serves both ends of the network.
