Photo quality is the foundation of document quality — so the portrait is checked, corrected and approved at the moment it is captured.
Our registration system uses AI to keep captured data reliable from the very first step. Years of research into portrait capture went into the Photo Quality Management System, which secures the quality of every photo acquisition and keeps it compliant with the ICAO 9303 standard.
What the system checks and corrects
Pose and framing
The applicant’s head position and framing are measured against the ICAO geometry before the photo is accepted.
Expression and eye visibility
Exaggerated expressions, closed or obscured eyes are detected and flagged for an immediate re-take.
Accessories
Glasses, face coverings and anything else that hides facial features are recognised as non-compliant.
Illumination control
Lighting is assessed so that shadows, reflections and washed-out exposure never reach the document.
Automatic cropping
The portrait is cropped to the required dimensions automatically, sharpening the clarity of the facial features.
Background replacement
Portrait and background are separated precisely and the background is replaced with a clean, uniform colour — white hair included.
Accepted or rejected while the applicant is still at the counter
During enrolment the system decides whether pose, expression, eye visibility, accessories and illumination meet the ICAO requirements. Quality checks become faster, the burden on the operator is lifted, and applicants are spared a second visit because of a disqualified photo.

A counter portrait becomes a document portrait
The system crops the portrait to the required dimensions and separates the person from whatever was behind them, substituting a clean and uniformly coloured background. The separation holds even for applicants with white hair, so the photo stays clearly identifiable.
ICAO-compliant photos from outside the studio
Because compliance is verified by software rather than by the studio, portraits can be captured in non-professional settings. With the Online Pre-registration Solution the applicant takes their own portrait on a phone, and only a compliant photo is accepted — on-site registration is reduced to a formality.
